Bulgakov: The Reactionary Writer Each Nationalism Needed
In June 2026, Kyiv municipal services removed the monument to novelist Mikhail Bulgakov from Andriivsky Uzviz, the steep cobbled street in the old city where he grew up. This follows a 2024 designation of the author of The Master and Margarita as symbol of Russian imperial policy.
